A healthcare startup focused on nurse practitioners has secured $25 million in new funding to expand its model of turning clinicians into business owners. Corner Health, which operates in multiple states, provides the infrastructure and support for nurse practitioners to launch and run their own independent clinics.
The funding round comes as nurse practitioners, a workforce that is overwhelmingly female, face growing demand for primary care services. In 27 states, these advanced practice clinicians are allowed to operate without a physician's oversight, a legal shift that has opened the door for entrepreneurship. According to industry data, nurse practitioners in those states can earn roughly double the salary of their peers in more restrictive states, making independent practice a significant financial opportunity.
Corner Health's platform handles administrative tasks such as billing, compliance, and technology setup, allowing nurse practitioners to focus on patient care. The company says its model helps address the national shortage of primary care providers while giving clinicians more autonomy and higher earning potential.
The new capital will be used to enter additional states and expand the network of nurse practitioner-owned clinics. The company did not disclose its valuation but noted strong demand from both clinicians and patients. As healthcare costs rise and access to primary care shrinks in many areas, models that empower non-physician providers are attracting increasing investor attention.
