MetroPlusHealth Earns 4-Star Medicare Rating for Second Consecutive Year

New York health plan MetroPlusHealth has announced that its Medicare Advantage offerings have received a 4-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for the second year in a row. The rating system evaluates plans on a five-star scale, measuring factors such as quality of care, customer satisfaction, and member outcomes.

The 4-star designation places the plan above the national average, which currently sits at roughly 3.7 stars. Officials with the organization said the recognition reflects a sustained commitment to delivering dependable coverage and accessible services to older adults and individuals with disabilities across the city.

Medicare Advantage plans combine hospital, medical, and prescription drug coverage into a single package, often adding benefits such as dental, vision, and fitness programs. Enrollees can compare star ratings each fall during the annual open enrollment period, which typically runs from mid-October through early December.

Representatives noted that the repeat achievement signals consistency rather than a one-time result. They pointed to care coordination, preventive services, and member support as key areas that contributed to the score. The plan serves a diverse population, including many low-income seniors who rely on extra help programs to manage costs.

Industry observers say star ratings carry real weight. Higher-rated plans often qualify for bonus payments and can use those funds to expand benefits or lower premiums. For consumers, the ratings offer a simple shorthand when choosing among dozens of options in a crowded market.

The organization said it will continue focusing on chronic condition management and telehealth access as it prepares for the next review cycle.
