Rehab Reunion Brings Former Patients and Caregivers Together

Among those returning was Catherlen Moore, a former security officer at Broward Health. Moore was one of more than two dozen former patients who walked through the doors again, this time without wheelchairs or walkers. She said the staff treated her like family during her stay and credited their patience for helping her regain her independence.

Therapists at the rehabilitation center said reunions like this one serve as a reminder of why they chose their profession. Many patients arrive after strokes, accidents, or major surgeries, and progress can feel slow. Seeing former patients return healthy and mobile gives current patients hope.

Organizers said the gathering also allows families to thank staff members in person. Several attendees exchanged hugs and stories, and some brought photos from their time in treatment. Hospital officials noted that recovery does not end when a patient leaves the building, and events like this one keep the connection alive long after discharge.
