A new initiative is empowering adults to better understand and identify mental health struggles in children and teenagers. The program, funded by $516,000 in FEMA grants, is being facilitated through the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
The training focuses on equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to recognize early signs of mental health challenges among youth. By educating adults—parents, teachers, and community leaders—about the indicators of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues, the program aims to foster a supportive environment for young individuals.
Participants will learn effective communication strategies and intervention techniques, enabling them to provide crucial support to youths in need. This initiative reflects a growing recognition of the importance of mental health awareness and the need for proactive measures to address the increasing mental health concerns faced by young people today. By investing in this training, Iowa is taking significant steps toward building a healthier future for its youth.
