UVA Health has completed the acquisition of a large vacant property on Pantops previously owned by State Farm, marking a significant expansion of its clinical footprint in the region. The health system intends to relocate a substantial portion of its outpatient services into the 365,000 square foot building, with patient care expected to begin there in 2028.
The site, which has sat empty since State Farm departed, offers ample space for consolidating services that are currently scattered across multiple locations. Health system officials say the move will improve coordination for patients who need several types of care and will ease pressure on the main hospital campus.
Planning and renovation work will take place over the next several years before the first patients are seen. UVA Health has not yet detailed which specific clinics will make the move or how the interior of the building will be reconfigured, but leaders describe the project as a long term investment in outpatient capacity for the growing community.
Local officials have welcomed the reuse of a prominent commercial property that has been dormant, noting that bringing health services to the corridor could also support nearby businesses. The acquisition price and renovation budget were not disclosed.
