On October 28-29, Governors’ health and human services policy advisors from 28 states and territories convened in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for the annual Health and Human Services Institute hosted by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices. This year’s theme, “Stretching the Dollar: Strategically Financing Health and Human Services,” aimed to address the ongoing challenges faced by states in managing health care expenditures while ensuring quality services for their communities.
The discussions centered around innovative financing strategies and best practices that states can implement to maximize their resources. Participants engaged in workshops and panel discussions, sharing insights on how to effectively allocate funds and leverage federal resources to enhance health outcomes. The institute also provided a platform for advisors to collaborate and learn from one another, fostering a network of support among states facing similar challenges.
As states navigate the complexities of health care financing, the insights gained from this institute will be crucial in shaping future policies and improving the overall efficiency of health and human services.
